Fix Your Old File Cabinet Instead Of Buying New
We all have experience with old furniture and less than ideal equipment. In fact many types of equipment and electronics are almost expected to stop working. These items are usually upgradable items which always seem to be better than the previous models so we don’t think about it too much. Furniture on the other hand doesn’t get better every time you buy a piece. If a file cabinet for instance break or starts to function poorly buying a new cabinet will not bring you new features; you will simply be replacing an old unit for a new one. That’s why buying replacement file cabinet parts is such a good idea.
The cost of replacement parts for a file cabinet are amazingly inexpensive compared to the cost of buying brand new office furniture. For instance a mid level file cabinet made of quality materials and of a name brand is probably going to set you back a hundred or more depending on the size of your cabinet. However the parts to repair that cabinet or going to cost a fraction of the replacement costs and they’ll be just as good as a new unit.
Let’s say your file cabinet lock breaks. Would it make sense to buy an entire new cabinet when you can simply buy a replacement lock for a tenth of the cost? The same goes for all the other moving parts such as the rails and sliders. These moving parts are just a small cost to replace and they won’t really make a cabinet any better than it was originally.
Basically all the major office furniture brands have replacement parts for sale. You may have trouble finding something for cheap cabinets but any home store will have options as people do build these things from scratch; the parts are available. Your best bet is to start from your manufacturer’s website and then go from there.
